Excursion #1: Tour the Newberry Opera House, Carter and Holmes Orchid Nursery, and Enoree River Winery. Highlights include:

The Newberry Opera House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a french Gothic-style building originally built in 1881 as a seat of government for the town of Newberry and a place of entertainment including plays, lectures, and minstrel and variety shows, and later a movie theater. The building continues to serve as a live-performance space for popular artists, touring theatre companies, and local organizations.

The Carter and Holmes Orchid Nursery, just three miles south of historic downtown Newberry, is where visitors are given a tour of the greenhouses and nursery staff showcase different orchids, discuss growing conditions, and answer questions from participants.

Enoree River Winery is a local vineyard producing handcrafted, South Carolina wines. Wine tastings are offered where guests can sample between 8 and 10 varieties.
Excursion #2: Guided Paddle on Lake Murray

A guided kayaking/canoeing tour led by non-profit, Canoeing for Kids, will take participants on a Lake Murray paddle that departs from Dreher Island State Park. ($30.00 registration fee for the paddle tour)
